HeavyAsHell.com relaunched on March 1, 2010 in a big way! This site is a kick ass social news network for fans, bands, and independent journalists of heavy music. Did I mention a chance to win cash money just for being an active user? Yep! $$$ for sharing and voting on music, vids, photos, and news from your favorite heavy bands ![]()
HeavyAsHell.com, the brainchild of Mark Carras, is a community-based popularity website with an emphasis on all things pertaining to heavy music. It combines social bookmarking, blogging, and syndication with a form of non-hierarchical, democratic editorial control. News stories from other websites are submitted by fans of rock, metal, & punk, then are promoted to the front page through a user-based ranking system. This means that all users collectively take on the role of editor!
Unsigned bands! Submit a new song or video. Maybe even a link to your most recent blog. Independent journalists! Submit an interview, review, or article from your webzine or blog. Fans! Share news about your favorite artists. If you see something you want the underground scene to know about, this is the place to do it!
The software behind HeavyAsHell.com is called OpenVoter. It allows users to control the content, similar to Digg & Mixx. OpenVoter is an open source, Web 2.0 CMS written by Keith Wagner of DarkerNemesis.com.
